A new Glyndebourne community opera focussing on separation and political divides features Glyndebourne Youth Opera.
The newly commissioned work, Agreed, composed by Howard Moody with a libretto by Anna Moody, draws inspiration from ancient myths and contemporary political borderlines. Torn by divisions, violence and unrest, the conscience of the people of Orientis is tested and they and their leader are forced to accountability.
The multi-genre score includes elements of classical, world and jazz music. An intergenerational chorus of performers, including the Glyndebourne Youth Opera, will perform the piece, led by five professional singers. Young instrumentalists will play in the pit alongside members of the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment.
The new Glyndebourne community opera commission Agreed by Howard Moody, composer, and Anna Moody, librettist, opens at Glyndebourne on March 1 for 3 performances.
