...Operaluna is bringing Don Giovanni to Marlborough
Operaluna supports a number of Wiltshire music charities and hosts performances of opera and contemporary dance in Marlborough. Each summer an opera company is invited to perform at Marlborough College. Heritage Opera Company, which tours historic buildings and theatres, will make its third visit this year.
Don Giovanni (1787) is Mozart’s version of the popular Don Juan story, inspiration for many literary and musical works throughout the centuries, the first published version being a Spanish play by Tirso de Molina in 1630. Mozart’s version is undoubtedly the most famous and the key elements of the story remain the same. A licentious young nobleman, Don Giovanni, lives every day as though it was his last, seducing and betraying the women he encounters on his travels, until finally he is confronted with the terrifying consequences of his actions.
Operaluna hosts Mozart’s Don Giovanni on July 9 at the Memorial Hall, Marlborough College.
