The second edition of this year’s scratch nights organised by Second Movement, following the regular format of three brief works and a Q&A, takes place on June 15 at The Cockpit, London.
In HE/HIMSELFIE Josh Spear (composer and text) and Richard Dodwell (text) seek to raise the under-represented issues surrounding male body image, whilst referencing the modern day phenomenon that is “Selfie” culture using audio, movement and video. Aaron Holloway-Nahum (composer) and Peter Jones (text) tackle the mystery of The Strange Last Voyage of Donald Crowhurst. Failing in a 1969 round the world race, the businessman and weekend sailor began to lie about his progress and then disappeared; only his logbooks were found on his deserted boat. Psychological Tales is an exploration of psychological states through the ages using contemporary music. The show consists of three short dramatic works by Jonathan Woolgar, Lloyd Coleman and Ed Scolding, which explore compelling mental narratives in texts dating from biblical times to the twenty-first century.
