New company The Opera Story reinvents two classic tales in Goldilocks and the Three Little Pigs
A warm welcome to our newest member The Opera Story who commission work from up-and-coming composers, and produce and perform it with new opera talent in site-specific productions in intimate and unusual venues.
Their first production in 2017 was based on the story of Snow White and took place in a former cricket bat factory. This year they continue to take old stories and turn them into new ones in which nothing can be taken for granted. Goldilocks and The Three Little Pigs by Vahan Salorian with a libretto by Dominic Kimberlin plays on the idea that old stories have their roots deep in our collective unconsciousness by combining two familiar fairy-tales and giving them some fresh, dark twists.
What do these tales have in common? How well do we really know them? The opera explores what we think about the characters, their motivations and back stories and makes us think again.
The Opera Story’s new opera Goldilocks and The Three Little Pigs by Vahan Salorian with a libretto by Dominic Kimberlin opens at the Copeland Gallery, Peckham, London on February 26 where it will have six performances.
